I saw an online ad about a new flavor of Dr. Pepper. It's called Berries & Cream Dr. Pepper, and it said it's going to be only in test markets for the time being. (The ads are on ebay, they're having some kind of cross promotion.) I think regular Dr. Pepper is kind of gross, but I'm a little curious about this. If anyone gets to try it, can you let me know how it is? Thanks!
Really, you think Dr Pepper is gross? I like it. I also like Diet Dr Pepper, because it takes more like regular Dr Pepper. Those ads don't lie.
ReplyDeleteI'm not a Dr. Pepper fan. But I love Diet Cherry and Vanilla Dr. Pepper. It's like drinking a sundae. Not good for my teeth, but a heck of a lot better for my hips.
ReplyDeleteYeah, I think it is a little gross. I know this is going to sound crazy, but I'm pretty convinced that Dr. Pepper causes bad breath. So, one little sip and I feel like "ugh, I need to brush my teeth!"
ReplyDelete(Meanwhile, I'm more than happy to eat tons of onions and garlic.)
One suggestion. Try it hot. Yes, put some in a coffee cup and nuke it.
ReplyDeleteIn the old Dr. Pepper plant in Dallas (now Mockingbird Station), they used to have a coffee pot (one of those industrial sized pots) full of hot Dr. Pepper
It won't, like, foam up and overflow in the micro? Interesting. I might try that.
ReplyDeletejeez, i live in dallas and i remember the old dr p plant but i never remember seeing or hearing anything about a coffeepot filled with HOT dr p
ReplyDeletethe cans of dr p berries & cream that are being sold on ebay are from a test-market edition that was available in a limited number of cities. the product is about to be widely released and the packaging will be changed. that makes the test run of interest to collectors - there's a big audience of soda collectors, for some reason - and so the dr p people are selling them online with the proceeds going to charity. the first auction that finished, the 12-pack went for $217
Did you ever go IN the plant? I did, when I was clerking for an attorney in Far North Dallas. I know they had the coffee pot because I drank the Dr. Pepper. It must have been in 1989 or 1990.
ReplyDeleteIf I remember my soda history, this was before Diet Dr. Pepper had been invented.
I love Diet Cherry Vanilla Dr. Pepper so when I saw the Diet Berries and Cream Dr. Pepper in the store today I thought, "eh, what the heck". I thought Cherry Vanilla would be horrible, but I love, LOVE, LOVE it.
ReplyDeleteBerries and Cream = Ick.
Of course, I don't like raspberry very much to begin with.
When I was a kiddie back in the 70's my mother used to make hot Dr. Pepper with cinnamon sticks (real cinnamon, not cinnamon candy sticks) as a treat. It was fantastic.
ReplyDeleteI also have the Diet Dr.Pepper Berries and Cream here in Chicago. I adore it so much it makes me wriggle with glee.
